Returning to Your Roots

Salmon Swimming UpstreamEvery September, the salmon in Lake Michigan migrate up the rivers to their spawning grounds. It’s amazing to watch these determined creatures fight their way upstream. Mile after mile, they swim against strong river currents, negotiate log jams, jump over dams, and dodge fishing lures (like mine) until they finally arrive at the place they first came to life.

The annual journey of salmon not only makes for some awesome fishing, it illustrates the importance of returning to our roots. If salmon don’t return, they won’t reproduce and will eventually cease to exist. Returning to their roots is absolutely vital to their existence.

The same can be said of Christians. Sometimes it’s a struggle to return to our roots. When we fall short, it’s hard to remember that we are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). But it’s so important to remember our spiritual foundation because the enemy of our hearts will use anything he can to make us believe something else about ourselves.

And it’s never in our favor.

How do I return? I’ve drifted off so far away and it seems that God has decided to let me go…

I’ve never thought of reaping anything that I don’t sow, or gain without pain. I’ve worked every step of the way and took on the responsibility shouldering my parents’ expenses.

What I do not understand is – Why is God allowing anything that can go wrong in my life to go wrong? Even if the chance of failure is 1%, that failure will occur. I’ve never won a lottery, never walked a nice path in life, hardly rested my entire life – is that not enough?

How much more should I go through.. I don’t see an end, maybe there isn’t one.. I don’t see the prize, don’t think there will ever be one..

I’m 33 years old this year, and I’m already tired of life.. Is God really there?

Hi Ceslia, what despair you are in. Yes as christians we all suffer and ask God why.

He tells us in his word that he will rain on the just and the injust. This is the life we live. Some seasons it is good and other seasons we have a difficult journey.

When I keep in a good relationship with my Heavenly Father, He will give me what I need to meet the day.

I’m so sorry that you are through this difficult time, alot of us have been there.

For me at this moment in time I am facing the most difficult situation that I have ever been in and God is teaching me to live one day at a time. Some days I turn my struggles over to Him just to pick them back up the next day. It is hard to let go and let God.

My sorrow is my husband who has an addition that was very well hidden. Now there are legal issues as well as the news media.

Some critize that I am staying with him. My responce “God didn’t make trash, He made man in his image” So I have to trust that God will take care of it.

Take care and God Bless you!

Cecilia, I would suggest you start reading the bible. The book of John in the new testament is a great place to start. God does care about you but you have to also ask him what he wants for your life . God will give you understanding to your life. He is what you need right now. So take hold of his hand and he will refresh you. Strengthen you. He loves you so much he died to pay your way to heaven. Follow him he has the answers your looking for.

God bless you cecilia! Don’t give up! God loves you! Now go read the book of John ask the holy spirit to give you understanding. Pour your heart out to God! He cares!
