Safety Guards

Four weeks ago I was working in my garage on a project that’s been long overdue. Okay, true confessions, I haven’t been able to park a car in my garage since . . . who knows when . . . because it functions more like a shop and storage than a garage. Anyway, I was ripping some plywood... Read More
Man’s Best Friend

I had to make the decision to have our family dog put to sleep last weekend. It was one of the most heart wrenching decisions I’ve ever made. Andre, affectionately known as our “little buddy” (pictured to the left), was a part of our family for fifteen years. We will miss him deeply.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. (Colossians 3:15)
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. (Colossians 4:2)

Grateful for little things

I just came back from 2 days in the Michigan woods hunting for whitetail deer with my son. We invested a bunch of time, energy, effort, and expense . . . and came back empty handed. Skunked. Not only did we not bag a deer, we didn’t even see any. Now that’s really skunked! And a real... Read More

I had no idea that there are such national treasures as federal grasslands in KS. Being from the north, I’m familiar with state and national forests in... Read More
Coffee, frappachino’s and lattes
Posted by Allison Stevens on November 9, 2009
Coffee shops intimidate me. I stand there with this dumbfounded look on my face wondering not only what flavor I’m in the mood for (why this becomes such a mystery to me whenever I stand in front of that counter I don’t know, –it’s always chocolate), but I also worry that I haven’t... Read More
It must have been fun . . .

Wow!!! Have you ever seen anything like that before? I love the outdoors and I love good photography, but this shot of this little gecko just blew me away. At first I wasn’t sure exactly what I was looking at. Was it a marble? Or was it some kind of exotic semiprecious gem mounted... Read More
Imagine a world . . .

Every year, my husband and daughter plant flowers for me in our garden, for Mother’s Day. By mid summer, the flowers have grown and filled in and the colors are stunning. Sometimes, I just sit and stare at them. I guess I actually watch my flowers grow. I can’t imagine a world... Read More
