The Desire for Vengeance
Posted by Jeff Olson on February 10, 2011
I once spoke with a man whose son had been brutally murdered by a close family friend. In the years to follow, the man talked of his burning desire for revenge. He said he wanted to turn this tremendous burden over to Jesus. He knew that bitterness had overtaken his heart and crowded out everything... Read More

Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the past few weeks, you probably know all about the dramatic rescue of the 33 miners in Chile. The miners were trapped about a half mile underground when part of the San Jose copper and gold mine caved in on August 5th, 2010. Discovered to be alive... Read More
Holidays & Heartache

I’ve sat on this post for over a month. Didn’t know if I really wanted to post it or not. It just opens up areas of woundedness for us all that sometimes I’d just rather say nothing about. But then again, if we . . . I mean . . . if I really do believe that God is up to something... Read More

Wow!!! Have you ever seen anything like that before? I love the outdoors and I love good photography, but this shot of this little gecko just blew me away. At first I wasn’t sure exactly what I was looking at. Was it a marble? Or was it some kind of exotic semiprecious gem mounted... Read More

Yesterday I received word that one of our cars broke down—again. It’s the third time in less than a month that we’ve been hit with a major car repair. This time around it was the timing belt and water pump.
Cha-ching, cha ching.
This one hit me pretty... Read More
Getting Even

I recently ran across a website about taking revenge. I was actually stunned to see how many on-line sites are dedicated to the goal of getting even. From “thepayback.com” to “makehimpay.net,” scores of people share stories and tips on how to even the score with those who rub them the wrong... Read More

I was recently thumbing through the Old Testament book of 2 Chronicles when my eyes were drawn to the story of King Amaziah (2 Chronicles 25). The events surrounding the early days of his reign, in particular, give a glimpse into a surprising way God sometimes works in the background... Read More
Look under the hood

Some of my most profound insights have come while driving a car. Of course, I stay alert to what is going on around me, but I’ve noticed how God has this pattern of using certain incidents on the road to draw my attention to things that need to be addressed in me.
For instance,... Read More
